MeetingsCub Scouts meet with their Dens typically twice a month. The location of Den meetings is determined by the Den Leader. Once a month all of the Dens and Scout families meet for a Pack Meeting. This meeting is either held at Faith Lutheran Church, an elementary school, or outdoors at a park, depending on the activity. An adult partner (parent or guardian) is
required to attend all Scout functions with Lion and Tiger Scouts. Parents and families are strongly encouraged to attend the monthly Pack meetings with their older Scouts. These festive events are where Scouts earn their awards, practice flag ceremonies, put on skits, and much more.
The CostThe National BSA Organization charges a one-time fee of $25 for all new Scouts and an annual registration fee of $72 per year (current as of August 2021). Pack 512 also charges Pack dues to support our Pack activities (Pinewood Derby, Blue & Gold, Crossover Picnic, etc.) and awards (belt loops, pins, and rank patches) that Scouts earn each year. This fee will be paid directly to the Pack after you join. The National registration fee and Pack dues are pro-rated based on the month in which you join. Scouts also have the option to subscribe to Scouts’ Life magazine for $12 per year.
UniformThere is also the necessity of purchasing the Scout uniform and handbook for your Scout. Lions wear the blue Lion t-shirt. Tigers, Wolves, Bears, and Webelos wear the blue uniform shirt. Arrow of Light Scouts wear the tan uniform shirt that they will continue to wear when they transition to the Scouts BSA Troop. These items are available at the Scout Store, which is located at 500 Double Eagle Court in Reno. Pack 512 doesn't require the full uniform right away; you may purchase these items over time. We recommend you get the short sleeved uniform shirt, and buy it a little big so it can be used for several years. The pack also offers "activity shirts" that can be worn for certain outdoor activities for $10.
Special EventsHere are some of the events we typically do each year:
- Pack Hike
- Pinewood Derby
- Fishing Derby

The Nevada Area Council also holds Cub Scout Day Camp and Resident Camp in the summer. Every year offers new events and opportunities for families to grow and have fun! Research shows that early involvement in a values-based program is beneficial for strong character development. We'd love to have you join us on the Scouting trail!
